Not only does this activity require minimal supplies, but it also requires a limited amount of skill – making it ideal for those who are just learning how to craft or may not feel comfortable with more complicated projects.

Craft Supplies:

  • Envelope Printable – on our landing page
  • Cardstock Paper {three different colors}
  • 2 Inch Scallop Paper Punch
  • Craft Scissors
  • Glue Stick
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils

Directions:

  • First things first – download and print out the envelope template. You can print this on ANY color you like! You need one print per owl card.
  • Next up – trim out the envelope shape and discard excess paper.
  • Go ahead and lay your envelope design on your working station, with the printed black marks facing you.
  • Now grab your remaining pieces of cardstock paper, along with your scissors and the scallop paper punch.
  • Go ahead and cut/punch out the two eyes & of course, the triangle nose for your owl.
  • Glue those to your envelope shape, in the designated spots.
  • Now hold off on gluing the googly eyes in place. Flip over your piece so the blank side is now facing you.
  • Use whatever writing utensil you like, to write a message on the back of the envelope design. I included some “punny” examples below.
  • When done writing, flip it over again and FINALLY glue the wiggle eyes in place.
  • And that’s it! At this point in time you can add any other embellishments in place, before you gift it away proudly!

Example Sayings:

  • “OWL” Be Seeing You Soon
  • “OWL” Always Love You!
  • “OWL” You Need Is Love
  • Loving You Is A Hoot!
  • WHOOOO Loves YOU?
  • “OWL” Be Your Valentine
  • You’re A HOOT!
  • Guess WHOOO?!
  • Be OWL-SOME!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
