Popsicle Stick Koala Bear In Sweater - Kid Craft

This fun popsicle stick koala bear in sweater craft is perfect for kids of all ages! It’s a great way to use up any extra popsicle sticks you might have lying around.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks
  • Low Temp Glue Gun
  • Gray Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Craft Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Gray Cardstock Paper
  • Black Sharpie Marker
  • Wiggle Eyes

Directions:

  • First get the glue gun hot and ready.
  • Assemble the base of your craft by gluing THREE jumbo popsicle sticks and TWO mini popsicle sticks together to look like a fence door to complete the koala body {3 next to each other and the mini popsicle sticks across to secure in place.}
  • Allow it to dry completely. Repeat for each bear friend you want to make today.
  • Now grab your craft paint, paper plate and form brush.
  • Squirt some gray craft paint on the paper plate.
  • Using the foam paint brush, paint the flat side of your popsicle stick shape completely gray.
  • Set it aside to let it dry completely.
  • While that is drying, go ahead and grab your cardstock, marker and scissors.
  • Out of the gray cardstock, cut out a large circle head for the koala, as well as ears and feet.
  • Out of the black cardstock cut out a long nose for the bear.
  • Glue together the head, ears and nose pieces to complete the koala’s face.
  • Take the black Sharpie marker and draw on the mouth & some embellishments on his feet for some added dimension.
  • Go ahead and also glue the wiggle eyes in place, as well.
  • Set aside the paper pieces till the last step.
  • Now grab your craft yarn, the painted popsicle stick shape and your craft scissors.
  • Take one end of your yarn and hot glue it to the back of your popsicle stick koala bear body shape.
  • Start wrapping the yarn SEVERAL times around the popsicle stick base, until you have the look you like.
  • When ready, cut the yarn and use the hot glue gun again, to secure the loose end to the back of the popsicle stick base.
  • Now go ahead and glue ALL the paper pieces to the yarn wrapped popsicle stick shape from earlier.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then let it dry completely before displaying proudly!!!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
