Egg Shaped Easter Friends

Don’t settle for boring this Easter season – keep scrolling for the full how-to tutorial! #gluedtomycrafts

Hi there friends! Today I want to encourage YOU to take advantage of those craft foam eggs you see in the stores right now {like Michaels and Dollar Tree} and make some fun “Easter Friends” with us! It’s the best way to beat those boredom blues, especially during spring break and possible snow days!

This latest craft foam egg shape kid craft idea is actually inspired by a “kit” I recently saw at Paper Source. Although I love Paper Source {it’s my new favorite place for craft supplies} I strongly believe you DON’T need to buy an expensive kit, when you can make it from scratch with supplies you are already have on hand {It’s kinda like baking – am I right?}

If you have paper scraps already in your stash, you are already well on your way to pulling this idea together for your child! Best part – you didn’t spend an arm and leg to do it AND your “peeps” will love the creativity at their fingertips without rules or limited supplies!

So I’m calling all my crafty friends today! Get a jump start on the Easter fun with our simple and rather short tutorial below! Happy crafting, my friends!!!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Various craft foam egg shapes {any color or size} cardstock paper, scrapbook paper, wiggle eyes, school glue, scissors and any other embellishments you might have in your craft stash right now

THE DIRECTIONS:

  • To recreate – just dump everything on the table. Seriously! There is really no real rules or technique to this one.
  • Just take our pictures in this post as your example and build from there. What I did for mine was trace my craft foam egg shapes on patterned scrapbook paper and then trim that down to be the “clothes” for my egg shapes {basically a half circle shape for shirts, dresses etc.} I used school glue to secure them in place but you can also a tape runner adhesive or glue stick.
  • As for the rest – you can use various embellishments and leftover paper, to bring each piece to life with wiggle eyes, pom pom noses and bows & bowties for a festive look. Make them look their EASTER BEST!
  • Don’t forget to tie in random leftover stickers, glitter or even craft paint. There is no real rules! We are just taking our basic egg shape and turning them into Easter chicks & bunnies!

A FEW MORE IDEAS:

  • For added fun, you can display these pieces as is OR string them in a banner for a more festive look {just glue them onto a piece of ribbon or string to hang!}
  • Looking for a pretend piece idea? How about hot gluing them to some popsicle sticks and get them ready for a puppet show. Just hold them by the stick and play!
  • You can also hot glue magnets to the back for displaying on the fridge or a magnetic surface.
  • So many ideas! We just hope we opened the crafty box of thoughts and inspired you!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
