Letter Learning Popsicle Stick “C” is for Cat Craft

“C” is for cat and today’s popsicle stick kids craft idea is the PERFECT way to reinforce that idea!

Inspired by my son {I’m trying to step up his letter recognition at home} today I’m sharing another kid friendly activity that is SUPER simple for kids and adults of all ages to pull together for some awesome craft time!

This Popsicle Stick Cat craft tutorial is pretty easy AND completely customizable too! And it’s just that! A basic “C” shape made from craft sticks, that we turned into an adorable feline friend. Then decorate with various embellishments to really create a one-of-a-kind cat friend to enjoy!

Sounds super fun – right?! Now let’s grab our craft supplies and get to the step-by-step tutorial below!

Popsicle Stick "C" is for Cat - Kid Craft Idea Popsicle Stick "C" is for Cat - Letter Learning Kid Craft Idea

Our craft stick cat craft is a fun and easy letter learning craft idea for kids!

Craft Supplies:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks {6 per cat craft}
  • School Glue
  • Black or Brown Craft Paint
  • Small Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Black or Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Pink Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Paper Craft Scissors
  • Large Wiggle Eyes

Directions:

  • First glue your popsicle sticks together to look like an “C.” See my picture above for an example.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely. Repeat for each cat themed piece you want to make today.
  • When ready – squirt some craft paint on your paper plate.
  • Using the paint brush, paint the entire front side of popsicle stick shape either black or brown. This will the be the body of the cat.
  • Set it aside again.
  • Next grab your scissors and all the pieces of cardstock.
  • Cut out a nose, triangle ears, tail and whiskers.
  • To finish off your Craft Stick Cat kid craft – have children glue their cardstock piece, along with the wiggle eyes, to their painted popsicle stick shape.
  • Then let it all sit aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!!!

Tools:

  • School Glue
  • 1 Small Paint Brush

  • Scissors
