Homemade Bubble Mixture and Wands

Make some summer memories with your own DIY bubble mixture! Just add some soap and water, mix it up, and let the imagination run wild!

Homemade Bubble Mixture and Wands

Bubble Recipe & DIY Wands

One of my favorite past-times this summer, has to be blowing bubbles with my son in our backyard.

Seeing his face light up as he blows and pops the bubbles – is priceless! Those deep-belly laughs are the BEST!

Did you know that it’s so easy {and cheap} to make your own homemade bubble solution at home? YES I could easily buy it at any store during the summer but I loved that fact that I could include my son in the creating process {and he thought he was a “big boy” because of it!}

Together we measured and poured the three simple ingredients together, to make the bubble mixture in the comfort of our own home. Then he was put in charge of stirring the solution, while I made the homemade bubble wands with pipe-cleaners and pony beads.

Once we were both done, we headed out to the backyard to play w/our new creations and had a blast! It’s the little things that make life fun and since it started as something we made by hand, I think it’s even better!

If you would like to make some of your own DIY bubble solution with your child today as well, find all the crafty details in the full tutorial below! It’s honestly so easy to recreate, you will wonder why you didn’t do it before!

Happy crafting {and blowing bubbles} my friends! #gluedtomycrafts

Homemade Bubble Mixture and Wands

Bubble Supplies:

  • 4 cups warm water
  • 1 cup dish soap {I strongly suggest Dawn soap!}
  • 2 tbsp glycerin {found in the first aid section of most stores}
  • storage container

Directions:

  • The first step is to place all the wet materials listed above, in a large measuring cup.
  • Mix all your supplies together with a small whisk, until well combined. Then use like you normally would.
  • I’ve read people allow the solution to sit overnight – but I didn’t have problems using it right away.

Wand Supplies:

  • Colored Pipe Cleaners {one per bubble wand}
  • optional materials – small pony beads

Directions:

  • First take ONE pipe cleaner and fold it in half, making a loop in the center. Do a few twists to secure {It will look somewhat like a fish}
  • If desired – string some pony beads to create a more sturdy handle. Either way will work for these bubble wands!
  • Then dip it in your homemade bubble mixture and blow like normal!
