Shark Week Craft Idea For Kids
Everybody and their mama knows about “Shark Week.” Heck, if I know – you should know!
But in that rare case you don’t – the Discovery channel hosts a week-long series every year, that features television programs dedicated to SHARKS. This year it started August 4th.
Pinterest is even blowing up with recipes, cocktails and various crafts. So it’s only natural that we join the chaos and make a craft to celebrate too. Although we are a few days late into the week, I hope this inspires you! These harmless Footprint Sharks are sure to steal the show on your refrigerator. I promise no animals or small children were hurt in the making! Not even a drop of blood was present.
Find all the details below in our super easy shark craft tutorial below! Happy crafting, my shark lovin’ friends!

Celebrate #SharkWeek with a fun craft! Create your own footprint sharks keepsake and make a lasting memory of this incredible event. It’s so easy to do, you’ll be amazed at the result!
Craft Supplies
- Gray Craft Paint
- Blue Craft Paint
- Paint Brushes
- Small Paper Plate
- Large Wiggle Eyes
- School Glue or Glue Stick
- Dark Blue Construction Paper
- Black Sharpie Marker
- Baby Wipes
Directions:
- To start off, I painted some blue waves on our construction paper to add some depth. I guess I under estimated my shades and the blue didn’t really show after it dried. If I could go back, I would have chosen a lighter blue. {This just shows, not all crafts will go according to plans but we make it work!}
- Next I made our gray paint. It was just a matter of mixing a little black, with a ton of white paint.
- Then I painted Lil Man’s foot and pressed it on the paper. Be sure to have tons of baby wipes in reach!
- To finish off our Footprint Sharks Keepsake, I painted some triangles for the fins, glued on the wiggle eye and drew on teeth with the black Sharpie.
- I also added some waves with the Sharpie, as well as some additional fish in the picture.
- And of course, all handprint crafts need a date in the corner so you remember how old your child was, when you made it.
