Gnome Stocking Ornament Craft Idea For Christmas

Gnomes are so adorable and popular right now, and what could be more perfect for the Christmas season than making a stocking ornament out of one?

This project is perfect for kids of all ages and can be customized to fit any style or color scheme. Let’s get started!

Craft Supplies:

  • STOCKING PRINTABLE – on our landing page
  • Colored Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Pencil
  • Craft Scissors
  • Adhesive
  • Single Hole Punch
  • String or Ribbon
  • Embellishments

Instructions:

  • First things first, grab the free “Christmas stocking” file {listed above in the supply list} and print it out on your choice of colored cardstock paper.
  • Now trim out the stocking piece from the printable and discard the excess paper.
  • Next up – grab your white cardstock paper and pencil.
  • Trace both of your child’s hands {one at a time, in separate locations} on the paper.
  • When done tracing, trim them both out. This will be the beard for your stocking gnome.
  • Finally – cut out a small oval nose shape from the brown cardstock paper and a large triangle hat from the scrapbook paper.
  • You now have all your pieces and it’s time to start assembling! Grab your choice of adhesive and all your paper cutouts.
  • Start off by gluing the two handprint cutouts {his beard} on top of the Christmas stocking, right on the opening.
  • Follow that up gluing on his hat and the nose to the center, to tie it all together.
  • To make it into an ornament, hole punch a hole in the top of his hat and add some string through it.
  • To finish off your Paper Christmas Gnome Keepsake, add some embellishments ALL over the stocking piece.
  • Then display your handprint stocking gnome piece proudly on the tree, for ALL to see!!
  • Don’t forget to snap a few pictures of your finished Christmas stocking gnome on your phone and tag us on your social media sites! #gluedtomycrafts
