Crafting with kids is a wonderful way to bring stories to life. We recently read An Untold Story of the Tooth Fairy, and it inspired a fun, magical project. Kids love the mystery of the tooth fairy, and creating their own little fairy friends adds extra excitement to losing a tooth. This simple popsicle stick and cupcake liner craft is perfect for an afternoon activity at home or a creative extension in the classroom.
You only need a few basic supplies to make this happen. Children can customize their fairies with different hair colors, outfits, and expressions. Let their imaginations take over as they design their very own magical tooth collectors!
Supplies You Will Need
To make these adorable stick fairies, gather the following materials:
- Wooden craft sticks (jumbo size)
- Large, white cupcake liners
- Colored markers (Sharpies work great for bright colors)
- Elmer’s glue stick
Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these simple steps to build your tooth fairy craft.
Step 1: Design the Fairy
Start by giving your fairy a unique look. Use your markers to draw hair at the top of the wooden stick. Next, draw a simple smiling face just below the hair.
Step 2: Draw the Outfit
Move down the craft stick and color in an outfit. You can give your fairy a colorful dress, a sparkly top, or a striped skirt. Let the kids mix and match their favorite colors to make the clothes pop.
Step 3: Make the Wings
Take one white cupcake liner and flatten it out with your hands. Fold it in half to create a semi-circle shape. These folded liners make perfect, delicate fairy wings.
Step 4: Attach the Wings
Apply a generous amount of glue to the back of your decorated popsicle stick, right behind the fairy’s outfit. Press the folded cupcake liner onto the glue, ensuring the rounded edges point outward. Hold it firmly for a few seconds so the glue sticks.
Step 5: Let It Dry
Set your finished fairy aside to dry for a few minutes. Once the glue dries completely, your little fairies are ready for playtime!
