A pumpkin-themed Halloween craft made with an orange paper plate, colorful dot stickers, and ghost drawings on white paper that says Trick or Treat and Happy Halloween!.

Looking for a Halloween craft that’s big on fun and low on mess? This paper plate candy bucket is a total winner. Little hands turn a simple orange plate into a smiling jack-o’-lantern, then “fill” it with colorful dot sticker candy. It’s playful, festive, and perfect for toddlers and young children who love to peel, stick, and create.

The best part? You probably have most of these supplies already sitting in your craft drawer. Let’s make something spooky-cute!

Craft Supplies:

  • 1 orange paper plate
  • Large, white construction paper (for the background)
  • Black Sharpie marker
  • Colorful dot stickers {Amazon affiliate link}
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Directions:

Step 1: Cut the Paper Plate

Take your orange paper plate and cut off the top third with a gentle curve. You want to keep the larger bottom section, which becomes the body of your candy bucket. The curved cut edge will be the open top where all the candy spills out.

Step 2: Glue It to the Cardstock

Place your white cardstock or paper in a vertical (portrait) position. Glue the cut paper plate onto the lower half of the sheet, with the curved opening facing up. Press it down firmly and let it set for a moment.

Step 3: Draw the Jack-o’-Lantern Face

Grab your black Sharpie chisel-tip marker and give your pumpkin some personality. Draw:

  • Two triangle eyes near the top of the plate
  • One small triangle nose in the center
  • A zigzag mouth stretching across the bottom

Keep it friendly or make it a little spooky – it’s totally up to you!

Step 4: Draw the Bucket Handle

Using the same black marker, draw a big arch above the plate on the white cardstock. This curved line connects from one side of the bucket’s opening to the other, forming the handle. Now it looks just like a real trick-or-treat pail!

Step 5: Fill It with Candy Stickers

Here’s the part kids adore. Fill the space between the top of the plate and the handle with colorful dot stickers. Layer and overlap them in reds, greens, blues, purples, oranges, pinks, and yellows so it looks like a bucket overflowing with candy. The more you pile on, the sweeter it looks!
