Looking for a spooky-cute craft that uses stuff you already have at home? This toilet roll stamped ghost project is one of our favorites here at Glued To My Crafts!
It’s simple enough for little hands, mess-friendly enough for the classroom, and the finished result looks absolutely magical against black paper. Grab your kiddos, save those empty toilet paper rolls, and let’s make a whole gang of friendly ghosts together!
Craft Supplies:
Before you start, gather these easy supplies:
- Black construction paper (this is your ghostly night-sky background)
- A toilet paper roll or cardboard tube (your stamping tool)
- White paint craft paint (for stamping the ghost shapes)
- A paper plate (to hold your paint for easy stamping)
- A metallic silver marker (for adding faces and swirly details)
Directions:
Step 1: Set Up Your Stamping Station
Pour a small amount of white paint onto your paper plate. Spread it out just a little so it’s easy to dip into. Lay your black construction paper flat on the table.
Step 2: Stamp Your Ghost Ovals
Gently bend your toilet paper roll into an oval shape. Then press one end of the toilet paper roll into the paint, then stamp it onto the black paper. Each press makes a perfect oval ghost body. Fill your page with as many ghosts as you like! We stamped about nine, but there’s no wrong number. Spread them out so each little ghost has room to float. Let the paint dry before moving on.
Step 3: Draw the Ghost Faces
Once your ovals are dry, it’s time to give each ghost some personality. Using your metallic silver marker, add two small dots for eyes and a little vertical oval for the mouth. That mouth shape gives every ghost a sweet, surprised “ooh!” expression. Feel free to leave one ghost face-free for a fun peek-a-boo effect, just like we did.
Step 4: Frame and Finish
To make your craft really shine, draw on squirls, add some glitter glue or stickers or leave it as is! Once everything is exactly how you like it, your ghostly masterpiece is complete and ready to display proudly for all to see!
Helpful Tips for Crafting Success:
- Let paint dry fully before adding marker details so nothing smudges.
- Use a fresh tube end if the paint starts to look uneven from too much stamping.
- Let kids lead! Wobbly ovals and crooked faces only make the ghosts cuter.
- Try different colors of paint or markers if you want a rainbow ghost squad.
- Make it a group activity by giving each child their own tube and plate.
