Beep boop! Get ready to blast off into the silliest craft of the week. This paper plate and paint splat alien is bright, messy in the best way, and SO much fun to make. Best of all? It uses stuff you probably already have hiding in your craft drawer.

By the end of this tutorial, you and your little astronauts will have your very own three-eyed green alien ready to land on the fridge, the classroom wall, or your kid’s bedroom door.

Craft Supplies:

Gather these supplies before you start so nothing slows down the fun:

  • White paper plates (one per alien)
  • Tulip Slick Dimensional Fabric Paint in Neon Green and Leaf Green
  • Chunky multicolored glitter
  • 3 large googly eyes
  • Construction paper (for the antennae)
  • Craft glue

That’s it! Time to create! Let’s make some intergalactic magic!

Directions:

Step 1: Splat the paint

Squeeze big blobs of paint all over the center of your white paper plate. Make sure they overlap in spots. Don’t be shy – more blobs mean more marbling!

Step 2: Fold and marble

Fold the plate gently in half, press the two sides together, then open it back up. Wiggle and squish to spread the paint into a cool marbled splat pattern.

Step 3: Sprinkle the glitter

While the paint is still wet, shake your chunky glitter all over the paper plate. The wet paint acts like glue and holds it in place.

Step 4: Let it dry

Set your plate aside to dry completely.

Step 5: Cut the antennae

Cut two paddle or club shapes out of your orange construction paper. These will be your alien’s wiggly antennae.

Step 6: Glue on the antennae

Attach the paper antennae to the top of the plate so they point up in a fun “V” shape. Use craft glue, or ask a grown-up for a little hot glue.

Step 7: Add the three googly eyes

Glue your three big googly eyes in a row across the center of the plate. Three eyes make this alien extra out-of-this-world! Give the glue a minute to set, and BOOM – your alien is complete. Display it proudly!
