Snails may not be the first creatures that come to mind when thinking about spring, but they’re actually perfect symbols of patience, resilience, and the beauty of nature. Plus, their curvy shells make the perfect canvas for colorful designs!

This polka dot snail craft is particularly kid-friendly and customizable, making it great for classrooms, family crafting time, or rainy day projects!

Craft Supplies:

The best part about this project is how affordable and accessible it is. Gather these materials to get started (most can be found at a local craft store):

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – one per craft
  • Craft Paint/Paint Pens
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Snail Shell Printable – from our spring landing page
  • Coding Labels
  • Medium Sized Googly Eyes
  • School Glue
  • Scissors

Directions:

Follow these simple steps to create your popsicle stick snail. The best part? You can customize it to fit your child’s imagination!

  • First things first – paint and/or color your jumbo popsicle sticks however you like. You will need one craft stick per snail.
  • Once done, set aside to let it dry completely.
  • Now grab your printed printable and pull out the coloring materials/coding labels.
  • Go ahead and decorate ONE of the shell designs from the print out. My best suggestion is to do the coding labels last.
  • When done decorating, trim it out.
  • To finish off the Polka Dot Snail – simply glue the cardstock piece in place on one end of the popsicle stick and add the wiggle eye.
  • Follow that up by cutting out and adding some antennas to finish off the design.
  • Congrats – YOU SNAILED IT! Now use your beautiful piece as a bookmark, as decor or for pretend play this spring season!
