Squirrel On Tree Branch Craft Idea For Kids

All crafty skill levels are going to LOVE this project tutorial and it’s the perfect boredom buster idea for those fall days indoors, as well!

When you recreate it, come show off those beautiful creations with us on our Facebook page! We love seeing those pics from you so please don’t be shy!

Craft Supplies:

  • Squirrel Printable – on our landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Blue Cardstock Paper
  • Brown Cardstock Paper
  • Cardstock Paper {in fall colors}
  • Adhesive

Directions:

  • First things first – grab our free squirrel printable, listed above in the supply list.
  • Go ahead and find it on your computer, right click and print it out on a single sheet of white cardstock paper.
  • Now that you have the printable, go ahead and color in the squirrel design however you like.
  • When done coloring, trim it out and discard excess paper.
  • At this point in time you can also add a googly eye to the squirrel cutout as well.
  • Now grab a single sheet of tan or brown cardstock paper and your choice of writing utensil.
  • Pick a hand – any hand will do!
  • Lay it flat on the cardstock paper and trace around the hand & arm. This is the start of the tree branch.
  • When ready, trim out the traced design with your scissors.
  • Next up – grab your glue stick and glue the handprint/arm cutout to your light blue cardstock paper. You just want to make sure you leave plenty of room for the squirrel to sit.
  • Follow that up by gluing down the squirrel cutout on the “tree branch.”
  • The last step is to cut out a few small leaves from various colors of cardstock paper and glue those on as well.
  • Now add any other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then display your squirrel on tree branch paper piece proudly for all to admire!

MAKE IT YOUR OWN TODAY: to change it up, go ahead and glue on natural materials such as leaves from outside or perhaps even a small handfuls of twigs
