It’s officially back to school season and I’m standing on the rooftop, calling for YOU to check out our latest handprint keepsake idea that has the theme of “High Five To An Awesome School Year.” This post is in partnership with La Petite Academy and I hope you consider scheduling a tour at one of their facilities today!
Handprint High Five To An Awesome School Year – Keepsake Idea
With my latest craft tutorial, I’m hoping to inspire you to make your child’s FIRST day of the new school year, extra epic {and memorable} with our DIY high five handprint keepsake idea.
But first – let’s talk more about La Petite Academy and how they can prepare your child for achievement in elementary school and beyond!
At La Petite Academy, their programs provide an innovative early education experience that guarantees children are ready for success. While attending, your child will discover the joy of learning as you discover the joy of having peace of mind.
It all starts at the academy’s front door with their already robust health and safety procedures that have been enhanced to ensure a clean, welcoming school environment for all their students that attend. The staff is there to provide peace of mind to every family with their comprehensive safety measures in place.
While your child is at any of the La Petite Academy centers, their safety and well-being is ALWAYS the establishment’s top priority. One of their big new initiatives for the upcoming school year is that they are rolling out parenting-facing, live-stream cameras in all of their schools through the WatchMeGrow app.
The WatchMeGrow app is only accessible to parents for their child’s specific classroom. It’s encrypted, clear and in real-time. Not to mention intuitive and really easy to use. Parents can either log in through the WatchMeGrow app on their phone or log on directly on their computer to see their child in real-time, in the classroom. This new app will help parents feel connected all day, every day, so they don’t need to miss a single special moment or milestone. La Petite Academy will be rolling out this new technology to all of their schools by late fall.
Another thing to make note on, is that each La Petite Academy facility offers stability and reliability to essential and critical workers. They want ALL families to experience the same while attending their establishment. It is their goal to help all children move forward and be prepared for school, while giving them all a great start.
With all that being said, I really do hope you consider sending your child to a La Petite Academy center this upcoming new school year. I’ll share more info of how you can do that below, at the end of this tutorial. But for now we are going to roll into the moment you have been looking forward to the most – the keepsake craft idea!

Whether you want to keep the finished product as a memorabilia piece you place in a scrapbook or maybe you want to give something special to your child’s new teacher on the first day back, I think our latest craft idea is a must-do activity!

- Washable Craft Paint {any color you like!}
- Large Foam Paint Brush
- Small Paper Plate
- Baby Wipes
- Sharpie Marker or Pen

The Even Easier Directions:
- First download our Handprint Awesome School Year Printable that is listed above in the supply list.
- Print out the file you just downloaded, in color, on a single sheet of white cardstock. You will only need ONE print per craft. Print as many as you like!
- Next up – grab your craft paint, small paper plate and the foam paint brush.
- Squirt a small amount of craft paint on the paper plate.
- Now pick a hand – any hand will do!
- Using the paint brush, cover the palm and fingers of your child’s hand completely with the craft paint.
- Working quickly, press down the painted hand in the center of the printable.
- Go ahead and press down & gently wiggle each finger so the paint really transfers to the paper.
- When ready, carefully lift up their hand from the paper to reveal the painted handprint design on the paper.
- Clean off excess paint from your child’s hand with a few moist baby wipes and a quick trip to the sink.
- When done cleaning up their hands, be sure to set aside the piece of paper with the painted handprint on it, to allow it to dry completely.
- When the painted handprint on the printable is completely dry, add whatever embellishments your child’s crafty heart desires to make it extra AWESOME!
- Don’t forget to also have your child sign their name in the provided blank space with a marker or pen.
- Then display/gift away the paper piece proudly for all to see!!
