Using just a few items like craft spoons, paper, markers and more, you can make these adorable puppets that will help teach about seasons, colors and nature – not to mention inspire creativity in the process!

Craft Supplies:

  • Wooden Craft Spoons – 1 per puppet
  • Paint Pens
  • Thin-Tipped Sharpie Markers
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Pipe Cleaners – 1 per puppet

Directions:

  • First things first – paint the “handle” of your wooden spoon, any color you like. This is now your “friend’s” body.
  • Next up – use thin tipped markers to draw on a face on the larger end of the now painted spoon.
  • Grab your pieces of cardstock paper and your scissors.
  • Cut out a half circle shape, that will become the hat for your puppet.
  • Now get the glue gun hot and ready & hot glue the hat piece in place, on the spoon.
  • The last step is trim down the pipe cleaner and “twist” it around the neck of the puppet, to create a scarf.
  • Finally add other embellishments you see fit, while bringing your pieces to life!!
  • Then play and/or display proudly for ALL to see!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
