There’s no better way to commemorate your child’s feet than with a custom footprint airplane keepsake canvas! Now is the perfect time to turn those little toes into something to cherish forever!
Footprint Airplane Keepsake
How many of you have kids that are excited for the release of Disney’s newest movie – Planes : Fire & Rescue? I know we are!
Since my son loved the first Planes movie so much, it’s pretty safe to say he will love this new movie too. Especially since every time the movie previews come on TV – my son points at the tv screen and says “Planes? Planes?” {He also loves to waves his arms around making plane noises – oh boy!} It’s a safe bet it’s going to be on repeat SEVERAL times when it does come out on DVD eventually.
In honor of the movie hitting the big screen in the coming weeks – I decided to whip up a cute footprint airplane canvas keepsake craft for today’s post.
It’s super simple, totally customizable and even if you don’t plan on seeing the movie – it makes for a great keepsake and decoration! You could even get a HUGE canvas and do a “family” of planes. {Wouldn’t this also be great as a gift for a pilot??}

Directions:
- If you like, use a pencil to mark where you want the heel of footprint to go {maybe even do some test runs on plain paper so you know exactly where you want your plane to be}
- Now make the “wings” of the plane by painting your child’s entire foot & pressing it on the canvas. {repeat for other foot} You will want the heel to be facing inward/towards the body of the plane.
- Next, paint the body of the plane in between the two footprints. Add features to really make it look like a plane.
- If desired – using the bottom end of your paint brush, paint a dotted pattern around the canvas.
- To finish my painted airplane canvas with footprints, I used my finger to lightly mix gray/blue/white to create some clouds on the canvas.
- Once done with your footprint airplane painting, let the paint dry completely before displaying.
- For easy hanging, hot glue ribbon on the back of the canvas. Don’t forget to add your child’s name/age/etc on the back.
