Happy Saturday everyone! Today I’m sharing with you a VERY easy busy bag idea called “Counting Felt Chain” that you can make within minutes this afternoon!

The finished product is a great activity for young children and teaches counting & practices those fine motor skills.

With just some simple colored craft felt, velcro, fabric paint and a sewing needle – you too can make this simple counting game for your child {And this is coming from the person who HATES sewing but enjoyed making this!}

Counting Felt Chain Busy Bag Idea Craft Supplies Needed

Craft Supplies:

  • Colored Craft Felt
  • Velcro
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Fabric Paint
  • Sewing Needle and/or Sewing Machine

{I hand stitched the numbers on but since the velcro material was tough, I used the sewing machine to stitch it on the felt}

Directions:

  • First cut your felt into strips. You will want ten {or more}
  • Out of white felt, cut squares out. These will have the “numbers” painted on them.
  • Using fabric paint, paint/draw on your numbers to the squares. {1-10} Let dry completely.
  • Stitch the number squares to the center of the felt strips.
  • Now stitch on the velcro {one on each end/opposite sides} to the felt strips.
  • Then connect the felt pieces like you would a paper chain.
  • And that’s it! You now have a felt counting game for your little one!
