Styrofoam Cup Fireworks {New Year's Kid Craft}

Styrofoam Cup & Pipe Cleaner Firework Sparkler Craft

Today I’m sharing a kid craft that is perfect to do while waiting for the clock to strike midnight! {Or for 4th of July – but who is looking that far ahead, right?|

This New Year’s themed kid craft idea is a mix of simple supplies and an easy concept – fireworks made out of Styrofoam cups. You won’t break the piggy bank on the supplies and your child will love it!

Styrofoam Cup Fireworks Craft Supplies Needed

Firework Craft Supplies:

  • White Styrofoam Cups {one per firework craft}
  • Pipe Cleaners {the sparkly ones are super great for this!}
  • Craft Paint
  • Paint Brushes
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Craft Scissors

Directions:

  • First paint your cups. Make fun designs or go for a tye-dye look. Make it your own! Once done, set aside to let it dry completely.
  • While waiting for the paint to dry – cut your pipe cleaners down to size. I went ahead and cut each pipe cleaner in half.
  • To finish off your styrofoam cup firework craft, flip over your cup so the bottom part is facing up. Now take your pipe cleaners and poke them into the cup. The metal in the pipe cleaners will make it easy to do that. If you have a hard time – use scissors to poke holes. And that’s it! You have a firework!
