Busy Bag Felt Hanging Clothes Activity

Keep your young toddler busy, as well as teaching them a great household chore with today’s DIY Busy Bag Hanging Clothes learning activity! Best part? You can use leftover fabric scraps and craft felt in your craft stash, so it can be really easy on the budget too!

Busy Bag Felt Hanging Clothes Activity For Toddlers

Hanging Clothes Busy Bag Activity For Toddlers

Who says boys can’t hang the laundry? Is it really a “woman” thing. I think not!

I’m so grateful my husband takes part in doing the laundry & among other stuff around the house. I always find it interesting when I hear other wives say that their husband’s don’t help. I’ve even heard husband’s say “It’s woman’s work.” Last time I checked – a washer & dryer can be operated by all sexes. Just saying…

I honestly don’t know what I would do without my husband’s help. In fact, during this deployment, I get really overwhelmed {and lazy} on the household chores. I find excuses to not do them and really regret it later as they pile up. Most of the time when I do get to them – they are overflowing. YIKES! Hurry on home hubby! I have a growing “Honey Do! List” for you!

So today’s tutorial could be a two-fold type thing. It’s a “hanging laundry” busy bag activity that will keep your child busy – for now. But it can also “maybe” teach them a valuable lesson in the future.

Although, not many people hang their clothes these days…it’s still teaching the valuable lesson about doing laundry in general. You can make it fun & interesting for them. Who knows, I may be teaching my son a thing that his future wife might appreciate! {Dear future wife for my son – your welcome!}

And shout out to a friend of mine on Facebook, who shared this idea on her Facebook page a few months ago. She really inspired to share this DIY hanging craft tutorial with you all today!

For the Hanging Clothes Activity, you only need a few things. In fact, you can easily substitute items for what you have at home!

Here is what I used:

  • Various Colored Felt or Fabric Scraps
  • Fabric Scissors
  • Wooden Clothespins
  • Twine or Ribbon
  • Sharpie/Fabric Marker

Make It Your Own:

  • Instead of felt or fabric scraps, raid your closet for old clothes {like jeans and holey shirts} that can be cut up for this craft.
  • Or just skip making fake clothes all together & just grab random socks who lost their partners in crime {If you go with the sock idea, just skip the tutorial entirely & check out the play in action pictures below!}

The Simple Directions:

  • If you are using felt or fabric, go ahead & draw out shapes to look like tshirts, pants, skirts, dresses, etc. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but it helps if it does look like laundry.
  • Using your fabric scissors, cut out your shapes.
  • With felt, you won’t have to do anything extra. However, if you use fabric for this game, I suggest sewing the edges so the pieces last longer.
  • And that’s it!
  • To make the game work, grab some twine & tie it between two chairs to give the look of a clothes line. Then hand over the clothes/clothespins and show your child how to hang them.

Looks super fun, right? AND SO EASY TOO!

Once your child is done playing with this particular busy bag idea, un-tie the twine and put all the stuff in a plastic bag. This makes for easy storage and it can travel too!
