Craft Supplies:

Before you start, gather all the necessary materials. Here’s a list to make sure you have everything you need:

  • Barn Printable – on our spring landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Light Green Cardstock Paper
  • Dark Green Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Pencil or Pen
  • White Cotton Balls
  • School Glue or Glue Stick
  • Small Googly Eyes

Directions:

Set up a designated crafting area to keep things organized. Cover the surface with newspaper or a plastic tablecloth to protect against spills. Make sure you have enough space for your child to move around and work comfortably.

  • First print out our free barn house files listed above. You only need ONE barn house print per handprint sheep craft.
  • Next, using scissors, trim out the barn shape in the printable.
  • Discard all the extra leftover paper.
  • Next grab your two different colored green cardstock pieces and the school glue.
  • Tear one of the green paper sheets to give the “grass” portion of the craft some dimension.
  • Go ahead and glue that piece to the larger, untouched green paper piece.
  • Follow that up by gluing down the barn cutout on either side of the paper {make sure to leave room for your sheep!}
  • Set aside this piece till the last step.
  • Now grab your black cardstock, pencil and scissors.
  • Pick a hand and trace it on the black cardstock.
  • Use scissors to trim out the handprint design you just made.
  • Out of the remaining cardstock, cut out a small head shape for the sheep.
  • Go ahead and discard the excess black paper now.
  • Now grab the white cotton balls.
  • Glue a handful to the center palm area of the handprint cutout.
  • Follow that up by gluing the “head” paper cutout to the thumb of the cutout.
  • At this point in time you should also glue on the wiggle eyes so it can see.
  • When done with the above steps, glue your decorated black handprint to the barn house paper piece.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit to make it your own.
  • Once done, set aside to let it dry completely so everything stays in place.
  • When ready, display your beautiful and one-of-a-kind Paper Handprint Sheep Keepsake masterpiece proudly!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
