Paper Bag Bee Craft Idea For Kids

A paper bag with a bee drawn on it.

Looking for a simple and fun activity to try with the kids? We have the perfect project to keep little hands busy and spark their creativity. This brown paper bag bee craft is quick, adorable, and uses basic supplies you probably already have at home.

The sweetest detail of this project? We use beautiful paper heart doilies for the wings to give your bumblebee a delicate, charming look. Let’s start crafting!

Materials You Need

  • 1 brown paper lunch bag
  • Yellow and black craft paint
  • Paintbrushes
  • 2 white paper heart doilies
  • Large googly eyes
  • Black construction paper
  • School glue
  • Scissors
  • Black marker

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Paint the bee stripes
Lay your paper bag flat on the table with the bottom flap facing up. Paint alternating yellow and black horizontal stripes down the main body of the bag. Leave the top flap unpainted so you can create the face later. Let the paint dry completely.

2. Make the face
The folded flap at the top acts as the bee’s head. Glue two large googly eyes right onto the center of this flap. Grab your black marker and draw a big, happy smile just beneath the eyes.

3. Add the antennae
Cut two short strips from your black construction paper. Round off the top edges to make them look like bug antennae. Glue these strips to the very top edge of the paper bag head.

4. Attach the doily wings
Now for the best part! Take your two paper heart doilies. Glue one to the left side of the bag’s body and one to the right side. The textured heart shape creates perfect, fluttering wings for your new buzzing friend.

Once the glue dries, your child has a brand new puppet to play with! You can easily make a whole swarm of these cheerful bees to brighten up a classroom, decorate a playroom, or put on a fun puppet show. Have a wonderful time creating!
