Show Mom how much you care this Mother’s Day with a handmade card that truly pops! You don’t need expensive supplies or advanced crafting skills to create something beautiful. With a quick trip to Dollar Tree, you can make a stunning 3D floral card that looks like it took hours, but only costs a few dollars to create.
This project is perfect for all skill levels, from seasoned crafters to first-time DIYers. It’s a fun, affordable way to add a personal and heartfelt touch to your Mother’s Day celebration. Let’s gather our materials and start creating a card that Mom will treasure.
Craft Supplies:
Most of these supplies can be found at your local Dollar Tree, making this an incredibly budget-friendly project.
- Green construction paper or cardstock
- A piece of colored cardstock or heavy paper for the background (any color you like!)
- One large gift bow or a handmade paper flower
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue stick or school glue
Directions:
Follow these simple steps to bring your 3D flower card to life.
- First, you’ll make the leaves for your flower. Take a sheet of green construction paper and fold it in half.
- Place your child’s hand on the paper and trace around it with a pencil.
- Carefully cut out the handprint shape. Because the paper was folded, you will have two identical handprint cutouts. These will serve as the leaves for the flower.
- Now grab your remaining sheet of cardstock paper. Glue the two green handprint cutouts near the bottom, pointing slightly outward to look like leaves at the base of a stem.
- Next, add a line of glue from the space between the handprints up toward the center of the page to create a “stem.”
- Finally, remove the protective backing from the gift bow and press it firmly at the top of the glue stem. Make sure it’s really secure.
- Finally – the last step is to write a sweet message like “Thank you for helping me grow!” somewhere on the finished keepsake.
- Add any other embellishments you see fit and gift away proudly!
