Our Halloween Paint Splat Witch’s Cauldron has been one of your favorites for years. So when the temperatures dropped, we knew it was time to give that bubbling brew a frosty makeover!
This winter version uses the same easy fold, squirt, and squish technique you already love. This time, though, the potion is pure snow day magic. Think swirls of shiny white paint on icy blue paper, sparkly snowflakes, and a shimmer of iridescent glitter on top.
By the end of this post, you’ll know exactly how to make your own snowy cauldron in just a few simple steps. It’s a great boredom buster for snow days, winter breaks, and classroom parties. Find all the details below!!!
Craft Supplies:
Here’s your checklist of supplies to bring this frosty craft to life:
- Free black cauldron printable – from our landing page
- Light blue cardstock paper (one sheet per craft)
- Tulip Puffy Paint in Shiny White
- White snowflake stickers
- Loose iridescent craft glitter
- Silver metallic marker or silver paint pen
- Craft scissors
- School glue
- Baby wipes
Directions:
Prepare your creative space by laying down a protective cover before the crafting magic begins!
- Set up your workspace. Please make sure you have a good working area that can get messy, because paint will squeeze out of the sides of this craft!!!
- Fold your paper. Fold your light blue cardstock in half. You’ll need one sheet of cardstock per craft.
- Squirt the paint. Unfold the paper and squirt some white puffy paint on one side. Keep the paint toward the middle of the paper and don’t add too much. You only need enough to make a pretty marbled design.
- Squish it! Fold your paper back together. Rub your hand all over the folded piece so the paint spreads nicely inside. Paint WILL more than likely squeeze out the sides, so keep an eye on it and clean up with baby wipes!
- Reveal your snowy brew. Carefully unfold your paper to see your frosty design. This will be the “inside” of your cauldron.
- Add the sparkle. While the paint is still wet, sprinkle iridescent glitter over the top. Then press on your snowflake stickers. Add gems or heart rhinestones too, if you’d like. Set aside to dry.
- Cut the cauldron window. Grab your printable and cut out the cauldron & the inner portion. This will be the window into your snowy potion.
- Write your message. Use a silver metallic marker to write “Brewing up a” across the top of the cauldron frame and “snow day!” across the bottom.
- Glue it together. Add glue to the back of your black cauldron frame and lay it on top of your paint splat design.
- Dry and display. Set your pieces aside to dry completely. Then trim around the edges and display your Snow Day Cauldron proudly!
