Looking for a Halloween craft that’s low on mess and high on sparkle? These sponge painted glitter ghosts are about to become your new favorite. They’re simple enough for little hands, quick to set up, and the results are absolutely magical. Each shimmery ghost gets a pair of googly eyes, so no two ever look the same.
We made a whole spooky crew on paper and they turned out so cute we couldn’t stop grinning. The best part? You probably already have most of the supplies sitting in your craft drawer. Let’s make some ghostly friends!
Craft Supplies:
- A sponge (a small dish sponge works perfectly)
- School glue, like Elmer’s
- Silver loose craft glitter
- Black construction paper
- Googly eyes
- A paper plate
Directions:
- Squeeze a nice puddle of school glue onto your paper plate. You want enough to coat your sponge, so don’t be shy.
- Press the sponge right into the glue puddle. Give it a little wiggle so the surface gets an even, sticky coating. This is your ghost-making stamp!
- Now for the fun part. Press the glue-coated sponge onto the black construction paper, dabbing in oval shapes to form your ghosts. Fill the paper with as many as you like.
- While the glue is still wet, sprinkle silver glitter generously over each shape. Cover them completely and let that sparkle shine. This is the step your kids will want to do again and again.
- Gently lift the paper and tip it to one side, letting the loose glitter slide off. What’s left behind is a glowing, glittery ghost stuck right to the glue.
- Before the glue dries, press two googly eyes into each ghost. This is where your ghostly friends really come to life! Mix up the eye sizes and colors for extra silly charm.
- Let everything dry completely, and you’re done.
