Looking for a fun and patriotic craft to do with kids? This Handprint & Popsicle Stick Bald Eagle is the perfect activity! It’s simple, creative, and a great way to celebrate American holidays like the 4th of July, Memorial Day, or Veterans Day.

Follow these easy steps to create your very own bald eagle masterpiece!

Craft Supplies:

  • Wooden wavy craft stick {one per craft}
  • Brown construction paper
  • White paint
  • Yellow cardstock paper
  • Googly eyes {two per craft}
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Pencil

Directions:

  1. Prepare the Craft Stick:

    • Paint the top half of the wooden craft stick white to represent the eagle’s head. Let it dry completely.
  2. Create the Wings:

    • Trace the child’s hands onto brown construction paper and cut out the handprints. These will serve as the eagle’s wings.
  3. Assemble the Eagle:

    • Glue the two brown handprint cutouts to the back of the craft stick, positioning them so the fingers point outward like wings.
    • Attach two googly eyes to the white-painted section of the stick.
    • Cut a small triangle from yellow cardstock or felt and glue it below the eyes to form the eagle’s beak.
  4. Show It Off:

    • Display your bald eagle craft as part of your holiday decor or use it as a fun teaching tool to discuss the significance of the bald eagle as a national symbol.
