Craft Supplies:

One of the best parts of this torn paper pie craft is that it uses simple, budget-friendly materials – many of which you probably already have at home or in the classroom.

  • Blue or Red Construction Paper
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Sweet As Pie – on our landing page
  • School Glue
  • White Cotton Balls
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Embellishments

Directions:

Follow these simple steps to craft your delightful “sweet as pie” card:

  • First, prepare a clean and organized workspace. Lay out all your materials so the kids can easily access everything. This makes the torn paper activity more manageable, especially if you’re working with a group.
  • Start by downloading or creating your “life’s as sweet as pie because of you” printable. Print it onto a single sheet of white cardstock. This will serve as the base for your craft.
  • If desired, kids can color in the “pie tin” in the coloring page before moving onto the next step.
  • Next up – help your child tear their sheet of construction paper into small pieces. The pieces don’t need to be perfect. This step is great for building fine motor skills.
  • Using school glue, have your child carefully glue the ripped paper pieces inside the “pie” outline on the printable. Encourage them to fill the space and enjoy the process. Remind them that the goal isn’t perfection – it’s about having fun and creating something unique!
  • Now for the final step – add some glitter glue and/or cotton ball “whipped cream” on top to really pull the theme together.
  • When done decorating, allow the glue to dry completely before handling the craft. This ensures everything stays in place and looks its best.

We hope you and your little ones have as much fun making this Torn Paper Pie Craft as Mom will have receiving it! With its sweet message and handmade charm, it’s sure to become a keepsake she’ll treasure forever.

Don’t forget to pair it with a big hug and maybe even a real slice of pie to make her day extra special. After all, life really is as sweet as pie because of Mom!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
