Start by printing the provided craft file on thick white cardstock paper. Let your kids unleash their creativity by coloring and decorating one of the rain boot designs. They can use crayons, markers, colored pencils, or whatever they love most. Once they finish coloring, help them carefully cut out the boot.

Next, grab a piece of green construction paper. Have your child place their hand completely flat on the page. Take a pencil and trace all the way around their hand. Cut out the green handprint and glue it right in the center of a fresh, blank sheet of paper. Then, take the decorated rain boot cutout and glue it just underneath the handprint. This makes the handprint look like green plant stems growing right out of the boot!

Now we get to the messy and fun part. Squeeze a few small drops of washable paint onto a paper plate. Let your child dip their thumb into the paint and press it onto the paper, right on top of one of the green paper fingertips. Stamp a few more thumbprints in a circle around that spot to form bright flower petals. Wipe their thumb with a damp towel, pick a new paint color, and repeat this step for each finger until you have a full spring garden.

Take the wording cutout and glue it anywhere you like on your completed keepsake. Set the artwork aside and allow the paint to dry completely. Once it dries, hang your beautiful new craft on the fridge and display it proudly!

A handmade card shows a blue rain boot with drawn flowers and a green handprint sprouting pink flower stickers, with a sign reading STEPPING INTO SPRING! surrounded by colorful real flowers.

We hope you loved making this sweet spring project with your little ones. Handprint crafts hold onto a special moment in time, giving you a beautiful memory of your child’s growth and bright creativity. Pin this colorful artwork proudly on your fridge, frame it for a hallway wall, or share it as a thoughtful gift with grandparents and loved ones.
