My Little Handprint Poem Ornament - A Sweet Valentine’s Day Craft for Kids

There’s something incredibly special about capturing a moment in time, especially when your children are small. Their hands seem to grow bigger every single day, and before you know it, those tiny fingers that once wrapped entirely around yours will be big enough to drive a car or wave goodbye for college.

This Valentine’s Day, we’re sharing a simple yet deeply meaningful craft that freezes time for just a moment. This “My Little Handprint” keepsake is perfect for parents, grandparents, or anyone who cherishes those little high-fives. It pairs a crafty, fun art project with a sweet poem that captures the boundless love of a child.

“Here is my hand, so tiny and small, To show I love you most of all.
Each finger a hug, each palm a kiss, A keepsake for you, a moment of bliss.
So hold it close and always know, My love for you will only grow!”

To complete this “my little handprint” craft idea, all you need to do is print out the provided file on WHITE cardstock paper. Go ahead and trim out each tag.

Next, kids will trace and cut out their handprint{s} from cardstock paper. Have them decorate the cutouts with fun elements like glitter, heart stickers, and more.

Once the decorations are completely dry, caretakers can “seal” the handprint{s} and the tag together between two pieces of clear contact paper to preserve them forever.

Finally, punch a hole at the top, thread some string through, and turn it into a charming keepsake ornament ready to hang!

My Little Handprint Ornament - A Sweet Valentine’s Day Craft for Kids

This Valentine’s Day, skip the store-bought cards. A messy, imperfect, tiny handprint says “I love you” louder than anything you can buy in a store. As you finish this heartfelt project, remember that what you’ve created is more than just a work of art – it’s a keepsake filled with love and tiny memories.

Whether given to a parent, grandparent, or special friend, this handprint craft will be treasured for years to come as a reminder of your child’s affection and the moments you shared making it together. Enjoy every fingerprint, every giggle, and every smile – those are the details that truly make this Valentine’s keepsake priceless. Happy crafting, my friends!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
