Fall is the perfect time to get cozy and creative with your kids. There’s something magical about crafting together as leaves change colors and chilly breezes bring everyone indoors.

On that note, today’s easy and adorable Paper Plate Bear with Scarf craft is a fun way to celebrate the season and keep little ones entertained. It’s simple enough for young children, yet customizable to reflect their personality and style. Best of all, it’s a keepsake you can proudly display all through the season!

Craft Supplies:

Gather these supplies before you begin:

  • Small Scarf Printable – from our fall landing page
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Crayons/Markers
  • Scissors
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Light Brown Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Brown Construction Paper
  • Large Wiggle Eyes
  • Stapler

Directions:

Once you have everything ready, follow these steps to create your brown bear masterpiece!

  • First things first – paint your paper plate completely brown and set it aside to allow it to dry completely.
  • Next up – color in ONE of the scarf designs in the provided printable. You can use crayons, markers etc.
  • When done coloring, go ahead and trim it out.
  • Once the paper plate is dry enough to touch, we are going to start assembling our bear. Grab your brown construction paper.
  • Cut out two half circle ears and an oval piece for his nose.
  • Go ahead and secure those pieces to your painted paper plate, along with the googly eyes.
  • Finally, the last step for this bear craft is to staple on the scarf to the bottom of the decorated paper plate.
  • Follow that up by adding any other embellishments you see fit before displaying proudly for all to see!

Bonus idea: You can also make this craft as a polar bear! For a polar bear theme, just skip the painting step and use the plain white plate as the bear’s face. Follow the instructions above, and let your kids decide if they want a classic brown bear or a wintry polar bear instead.

Displaying the Craft:

This cheerful bear craft makes for a wonderful seasonal decoration! Here are a few ideas for displaying the finished piece:

  • Tape the bear to a window or front door to greet visitors.
  • Attach a magnet to the back and display it on the fridge.
  • Use string or yarn to transform the bear into a hanging ornament.
