Making torn paper butterflies is a low-cost and mess-friendly activity. Most of the following items can probably already be found around your home:
- Construction Paper
- Cardstock Paper
- Large Butterfly Printable – on our landing page
- School Glue
- Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – one per craft
- Embellishments
Directions:
Follow these simple steps to guide your children through creating their own unique torn paper butterflies:
- First things first – download and print out the FREE provided large butterfly printable listed above, on a single piece of white cardstock paper.
- Next up, help your child cut/tear their various colors of construction paper into small pieces.
- Now have them use school glue to secure those pieces inside the “butterfly wings” in the printout.
- Once they are done filling in their designs, help them trim out the butterfly. Discard excess paper.
- The final step is to have kids add their popsicle stick “thorax” to the center of their torn paper design, as well as some antennas.
- When they are done decorating their torn construction paper butterfly designs, allow the finished design to dry completely before displaying.
