Craft Supplies
Before you begin, gather the following materials. Many of these are common crafting supplies, so you might already have them lying around at home!
- Bee Poem Printable – on box.com
- White Cardstock Paper
- Jumbo Popsicle Stick – one per craft
- Yellow Craft Paint
- Paint Brush
- Markers or Crayons
- Black Ribbon/String
- Scissors
- Hot Glue Gun
- Single Hole Punch
- Black Pipe Cleaner – one per craft
Directions:
- To recreate this bee child height ornament – simply download our FREE PRINTABLE and print it out on a single sheet of white cardstock paper.
- Have children decorate the head design in the printable. As for the two blank spots in the wings, I highly suggest an adult write in those.
- Once done, trim out the two pieces. Laminate them both if desired.
- Now add a single hole punch to the top of the head piece and string/bend the black pipe cleaner to create the antennas. Set it aside till later.
- Now take your jumbo popsicle stick and paint one side completely yellow.
- When they are done decorating the craft stick, take some black yarn and measure your child with it from head to toe. Using scissors, trim down the yarn {or thin ribbon} to the same exact height of them your child.
- Now take that piece of string and wrap it around the decorated stick, to make the stripes on the bee. Go ahead and hot glue it in place for safe keeping.
- The last step is to hot glue the head AND wings to the finished wrapped piece.
- And that’s it! Then display and/or gift away or bumble bee height keepsake ornament!
