Whimsically Spooky Fall Fun: Crafting Mushroom Ghosts with Kids
Fall is a magical time for crafting with kids. The crisp air, colorful leaves, and festive holidays make it the perfect season to get creative. One delightful project that combines the whimsy of the autumn woods with a touch of Halloween spookiness is our latest and greatest “Paper Plate Mushroom Ghost” craft idea.
After seeing this “trend” on blankets, mugs and home decor at stores such as Home Goods and TJ Maxx, I decided to bring the theme to my website today. I of course added paper plates {my fav!} for the mushroom cap but I also debated about brightly colored cupcake liners too {btw – the choices is yours so don’t feel limited by my example pictures!}

Enchanted Forest Fun Paper Plate Ghost Mushrooms Kids Will Love!
Fall is a magical time, and what better way to celebrate than with a craft that brings joy and a touch of whimsy to your home? Gather your supplies, set up your workspace, and get ready to create some unforgettable mushroom ghosts with your kids.
Craft Supplies:
- Small Paper Plate {red, orange or yellow}
- Small Ghost Printable – on our landing page
- White Cardstock Paper
- White Coding Labels
- Markers
- Scissors
- Glue Stick or Stapler
Directions:
- First things first – cut your paper plate in half to create TWO equal pieces. Save the other to repeat the craft later on.
- Now grab your white coding labels.
- Add a few “spots” to the paper plate half, to create the mushroom cap.
- Once done, set aside for now.
- Now grab your your ghost printout, along with a black marker and your scissors.
- Draw on a simple ghost face on ONE of the designs.
- Trim it out.
- Finally – the last step of assembling it. Glue the decorated paper plate piece to the ghost cutout. That’s it!
- Add other embellishments you see fit before displaying your paper plate mushroom ghost craft proudly!
- For added fun, add a jumbo popsicle stick to the back and use it as a puppet.
