Get Crafty with Kids: Adorable Fork Painted Raccoon Idea

This unique and easy-to-follow activity combines the everyday utensil—a fork—with paint to create a whimsical raccoon masterpiece. Perfect for children of all ages, this craft idea is sure to bring joy and excitement to your kids while also allowing them to express their artistic talents. Plus it can be tied together with story time!

Craft Supplies:

  • Clean, Plastic Fork
  • Gray Craft Paint
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Black Cardstock Paper
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • School Glue
  • Large Wiggle Eyes {two per raccoon craft}

Directions:

  • First squirt some gray craft paint in the center of your white cardstock paper. You don’t need a lot. Maybe the size of a quarter to start.
  • Have children take their fork – which is their “paint brush” and spread the paint ALL around to make the furry face of their raccoon. Just make sure they keep the paint on the paper but they can move it anywhere and in any design/shape/angle they like. If desired, add more gray paint but not too much to drench the paper.
  • Once they are done creating the “fur” set it aside for a bit.
  • Grab the remaining black cardstock paper and pencil.
  • Trace your child’s hands on the paper.
  • Follow that up by cutting out the handprint designs. These will become the raccoon’s eyes.
  • At this point in time, you should also cut out a small heart shaped nose from the remaining black paper.
  • Finally – the last step of this fork painted gray raccoon craft. Glue your cardstock pieces and googly eyes to the painted piece of paper. Start with the handprints {going outward from each other} and then go from there.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!
