Fingerprint Firefly Card Craft Idea For Kids

What’s better than a card? A personalized one made by little hands, of course!

Whether it’s for a birthday, thank you note, or simply to say “I miss you,” a homemade card can brighten someone’s day. And with summertime coming up super fast, now is the time to add some firefly flair to your crafty summer plans!

Today, we’re spotlighting a delightful, glowing craft idea that’s easy, fun, and full of character: Fingerprint Firefly Cards. This craft encourages creativity, keeps little fingers busy, and makes for a memorable gift from your child to a friend, teacher, or relative.

Craft Supplies:

  • Jar Printable – on our landing page
  • Gray Cardstock Paper
  • Yellow Craft Paint
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Sharpie Markers
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – download the free mason jar printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Print out the provided file on a single sheet of gray cardstock paper.
  • Next up – squirt some yellow craft paint on a small paper plate.
  • Place your finger in the yellow paint, then in the center of the mason jar design.
  • Repeat the thumbprint step several times, to create SEVERAL lightning bugs inside the jar design.
  • Use baby wipes to remove excess paint off your fingers before washing hands completely at the sink.
  • Once the paint is dry, you can draw on the embellishments {wings and antennas} with various markers to bring your fireflies to life.
  • Add other embellishments you see fit.
  • Then the last step is to write “you light up my life” around the finished design.
  • Then gift away!
