Crepe Paper Airplane Craft Idea For Kids

The warmer air of spring brings with it the promise of new beginnings, and what better way to celebrate the season of growth and change than with a whimsical craft project that’s perfect for kids of all ages? Enter our “crepe paper airplane wand” tutorial – a delightful blend of childhood wonder and creative artistry!

This simple paper airplane craft project requires only a few supplies: brightly colored crepe paper, a wavy craft stick, a pair of scissors, and a standard sheet of paper to form the airplane’s base. This plane activity not only engages children in hands-on creation but also offers a wonderful opportunity to discuss how airplanes fly, making learning both fun and informative!

Craft Supplies:

  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Airplane Printable – on our landing page
  • Scissors
  • Blue Crepe Paper
  • Wavy Popsicle Stick – one per wand
  • Stapler
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – print out the blank  airplane template, listed above, on a single sheet of white cardstock paper. You only need ONE print per craft.
  • Next up – if desired – color/decorate the printable however you choose.
  • When done, trim it out and discard excess paper.
  • Now grab your crepe paper and tear/cut off three long stripes.
  • The final step for this wand craft is to staple the three crepe paper pieces to the bottom of the airplane cutout and then staple that combination to one end of your wavy popsicle stick. You should be able to hold the other end and the airplane stay in place.
  • Add any other embellishments you see fit and then “wave” your plane piece all over to give it the appearance that it is flying through the air.

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
