Paper Plate & Cupcake Liner Lion Craft Idea For Kids -1

This adorable cupcake liner lion project is perfect for preschoolers, kindergarteners, and any young cub with a love for animals and art.

Craft Supplies:

  • Large Paper Plate – one per craft
  • Paint Crayons
  • White Cardstock Paper
  • Heart Printable – on our landing page
  • MINI Orange, Cupcake Liners {about 20-30}
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Googly Eyes – two per craft

Directions:

  • First things first – use a yellow paint crayon to color in the center of the large paper plate. This will be the start of the lion’s face.
  • Go ahead and also use a black paint crayon to draw on his nose and smile.
  • Set aside the decorated paper plate for now.
  • Next up – grab your printable and an orange paint crayon.
  • Color in ALL the heart designs in the printable.
  • When done coloring, trim them out afterwards and discard excess paper.
  • Now grab your mini ORANGE cupcake liners, your stapler and the scissors.
  • For each heart cutout, you are going to want TWO mini cupcake liners.
  • Flatten each set out with your hands and stack them on top of each other.
  • Use the stapler to secure them together in the center, along with a heart cutout on top.
  • If desired, use the scissors to create a slight fringe around the edge of each. Use your fingers to slightly fluff them up.
  • Once you have all your stacks completed, staple each one to the rim of the paper plate. This will create the lion’s mane.
  • Once the plate is completely covered and there are no blank spaces left, glue on the two wiggle eyes so he can see.
  • Then display your beautiful paper plate lion in your home proudly for ALL to see!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
