Turtley Love You Craft Idea For Kids

Turtley Love You Craft Idea For Kids

Welcome, crafters, caretakers and parents! Are you looking for a fun and creative activity to do with your little ones during the month of February? Look no further because we have just the thing for you – our “I Turtley Love You” photo ornament craft idea for kids!

As Valentine’s Day fast approaches, it is the perfect time to spread some love and what better way to do that than through crafting with your children.

This adorable and easy-to-make turtle craft will not only bring out their artistic side but also create special bonding moments between you and your child. So grab those art supplies and let’s dive into this turtle-y amazing craft idea!

Craft Supplies:

  • Turtle Printable – on our landing page
  • Cardstock Paper {any color you like!}
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Clear Contact Paper
  • Loose Craft Glitter
  • Single Hole Punch
  • Ribbon or String
  • Printed Picture
  • Heart Stickers
  • Embellishments

Directions:

  • First things first – download the free turtle printable listed above in the supply list.
  • Print out the provided file on a single sheet of pink cardstock paper {or any colored paper instead!}
  • Go ahead and color in the turtle design however you like {but aim for Valentine’s Day colors!}
  • At this point in time you should also add the small heart stickers around the turtle shell as well.
  • When done decorating your piece, use scissors to trim it out.
  • Go ahead and also cut out the oval shape in the head, as well.
  • Next up – cut two equal sized piece of contact paper.
  • Peel the backing off of one piece of contact paper and lay it down, sticky side up, on your work surface.
  • Lay the present cutout on top of the contact paper, facing towards you.
  • Trim down your picture so it fits inside the ornament. Lay it inside the design.
  • If desired, sprinkle some loose craft glitter now on top, to fill in blank spots and add some sparkle.
  • Now peel the backing off the second piece of contact paper and lay it on top of the first.
  • Use your hand to make sure everything is sealed together and that no bubbles exist.
  • When ready, use scissors to trim off the excess contact paper from around the edges.
  • For the final touch, add embellishments for a customized look.
  • Then hold punch a hole on top and string some string through it for easy hanging.
  • Then display/gift away proudly your child’s beautiful Valentine’s Day turtle ornament piece!
