Count down the days to Christmas with our festive cookie themed kid craft idea! We are “baking” up the perfect DIY and we hope you are inspired by our latest Paper Christmas Cookie Sheet, Mixed Media tutorial!
Paper Christmas Cookie Sheet – Mixed Media Kid Craft
Cookie baking is a staple during the holiday season and that’s exactly what inspired by our latest post!
Who would have thought you could incorporate wax paper from the kitchen into your crafts? We didn’t either BUT when we were brainstorming NEW and outside the box tutorials for Glued To My Crafts, we thought, “Hey, why not?!” And with just a small sheet stapled to a simple sheet of gray cardstock, we instantly envisioned a cookie sheet and the gingerbread man shape just seemed fitting from there!
Remember – you can make this idea your own by skipping the gingerbread man “cookies” and doing trees, stars or ANY shape you like! You can even dig out the REAL cookie cutters and trace those on paper for easy cutting out & applying from there!
So what are YOU going to create today?! With a little creativity of your own sprinkled in between our already awesome idea, you and your child can “BAKE” the perfect custom piece today! #gluedtomycrafts
PAIR YOUR COOKIE SHEET CRAFT WITH —> Paper Plate Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer Car
Cookie Sheet Craft Supplies:
- Gray Cardstock Paper – one per cookie sheet craft
- Wax Paper
- Basic Craft Scissors
- Hand-Held Office Stapler
- Thick Tacky Glue or Glue Stick
- Gingerbread Man Shapes – one per cookie sheet craft {I got these felt ones from Michaels}
- Red/White/Green Tulip Puffy Fabric Paint {affiliate link}
- Red/Green Christmas Glitter
- optional – buttons, candy embellishments, rhinestones etc.
Directions:
- Grab your gray cardstock, scissors and wax paper. Cut off a small piece of wax paper that will fit inside your single sheet of gray cardstock. You want your wax piece to be slightly smaller than the cardstock.
- Using the stapler, staple the wax paper to the cardstock.
- Next up – glue your gingerbread man shape {or any other shape} inside the center of the “cookie sheet.”
- Once that is down, it’s time to decorate your COOKIE! Go to town with the puffy paint, glitter and other embellishments. Basically you want to decorate it just like you would decorate the real deal :-)
- When you are done decorating, set it all aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly.
