Directions:

  • First decide where you want your heart shape design on the canvas. Place your paper heart doily there.
  • Using the paper heart doily as a template – make pencil marks along the edge, leaving some space between each mark.
  • Get your hot glue gun ready and glue a pony bead on top of each pencil mark. {I glued my pony beads sideways so the tying off of the twine would be easy, but you can place them however you like}
  • Once all the pony beads are glued down, you should have a heart shape on your canvas.
  • Next grab your twine and tie it off on one of the pony beads. This is your stringing starting point.
  • Carefully start wrapping the twine around each pony bead to make the string art design. Whether you go left to right or in a random way – really make it your own! Continue wrapping the twine around until you get the design you like.
  • Once done, tie off the twine so all your hard work won’t come undone. Then display proudly!

Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible.
