Handprint & Pipe Cleaner Flower Bouquet Craft Idea

Three handprint-shaped paper flowers with red heart decorations are attached to green stems and tied with a red polka-dot ribbon. A tag reads Happy Valentines Day! All are set on a dark surface.

This pipe cleaner and handprint flower bouquet is a wonderful, hands-on craft for kids to make. It serves as a sweet, personalized gift that parents, grandparents, and loved ones will cherish. You can easily set this up for a classroom activity or a fun afternoon project at home. Because it captures a child’s handprint, this craft is perfect for special occasions like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, or birthdays.

Craft Supplies:

To build this craft, gather these simple supplies:

  • Colored construction paper or cardstock (pink, purple, white, or your favorite colors)
  • Green pipe cleaners {3 per craft}
  • Scissors
  • Clear tape or craft glue
  • Heart stickers and glitter heart cutouts
  • Ribbon or baker’s twine
  • A small gift tag and a marker

Directions:

Step 1: Create the Handprints
Help your child trace their hand onto the colored construction paper. Carefully cut out three or four paper handprints. These cutouts will act as the blooming flowers for your bouquet.

Step 2: Decorate the Flowers
Let the kids get creative and decorate their handprint flowers. You can add small red heart stickers to the paper fingers and glue a larger glitter heart right in the center of each palm.

Step 3: Attach the Stems
Flip each decorated handprint over so the back faces you. Use a piece of clear tape to secure a green pipe cleaner to the bottom edge of each handprint. These green fuzzy sticks make excellent, bendable stems.

Step 4: Build the Bouquet
Gather all the green pipe cleaner stems together in your hand. Arrange them so the colorful handprints fan out nicely at the top, just like a real flower arrangement.

Step 5: Tie it Together
Wrap a colorful piece of ribbon or striped baker’s twine around the grouped pipe cleaners. Tie a secure bow to hold the stems in place.

Step 6: Add a Sweet Message
Write a thoughtful note on your small gift tag. Messages like “Happy Valentine’s Day” or “I love you bunches” work beautifully. Thread the tag onto your ribbon or twine to finish the project.

Three colorful handprint cutouts with red heart centers are arranged as flowers, with green pipe cleaner stems, pink paper flowers, and a note reading “I don’t say it enough but I love you bunches!” on a gray card.

This simple project lets children express their affection while practicing important fine motor skills. We encourage you to mix up the paper colors, swap out the stickers, and try different decorations to make each bouquet entirely unique. Share your finished creations with family and friends to spread a little extra joy!
