Turn a handful of craft sticks and a little paint into a patriotic keepsake your kids will love showing off. These handprint & popsicle stick 4th of July firework rockets are simple enough for toddlers and preschoolers, yet colorful and detailed enough to impress everyone at your Independence Day celebrations.

Craft Supplies:

You probably have most of these supplies already. Grab everything before you sit down with the kids — it makes the whole process much easier.

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 3 per craft
  • Mini Popsicle Sticks – 2 per craft
  • School Glue
  • Craft Paint
  • Foam Paint Brush
  • Small Paper Plate
  • Scissors
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Star Stickers

Directions:

Set up a workspace. Cover your table with newspaper or a craft mat. Have a small cup of water for rinsing brushes, paper towels for drips, and a drying area ready before the glue comes out.

  1. First glue your popsicle sticks together to look like a fence {3 jumbo next to each other with two mini across}
  2. Set aside to let it dry completely. Repeat.
  3. Now you are ready for paint. Squirt your colors on the paper plate.
  4. Go ahead and paint your popsicle stick shape however you like.
  5. Set it aside to allow it to dry a bit.
  6. Next grab your choice of color in cardstock and the paper craft scissors.
  7. Cut out a triangular top for the top of the firework, as well as a handprint cutout for the bottom.
  8. To finish off your Popsicle Stick 4th of July Fireworks – have children glue on their cardstock pieces, as well as adding any other fun embellishments they see fit, to the body of the wood shape.
  9. Then let it all sit aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!!!
