Kids naturally love cookies, and they will have a blast making these colorful, textured treats out of basic craft supplies. This crepe paper and cardboard cookie craft is easy to set up, budget-friendly, and wonderful for little hands.
Craft Supplies:
- A sturdy piece of brown cardboard
- Crepe paper or tissue paper
- Black or rainbow colored circle stickers
- Liquid school glue (washable works best)
- Scissors
Directions:
- Prepare the base. Cut the cardboard into medium-sized circles to act as your cookie shapes. You can trace a small bowl to get a perfect circle.
- Tear the paper. Let the kids tear the brown and pink crepe paper into small, crinkled pieces. This is a highly engaging sensory step.
- Apply the glue. Squeeze a generous layer of liquid glue all over the cardboard circle.
- Build the cookie. Press the torn crepe paper pieces directly into the wet glue. Cover the entire cardboard base so no brown spots show through. Use the brown paper to mimic a classic baked cookie, or use the pink paper to create a frosted sugar cookie.
- Add the sweet details. It is time to decorate! For the chocolate chip cookie, press black dot stickers or black paper circles onto the brown crepe paper. For the frosted cookie, stick brightly colored dots all over the pink paper to look like colorful sprinkles or candies.
- Let it dry. Set the crafts aside in a safe spot. Allow the glue to dry completely before you display or play with the cookies.
