You only need a few basic supplies to bring this adorable bear character to life. The crinkled texture of a standard coffee filter makes a fantastic, tactile face for the bear, while simple paper cutouts handle the rest.
Materials You Will Need
- Brown coffee filters
- Light purple construction paper (or any color you prefer for the background)
- Brown kraft paper or construction paper
- Large googly eyes
- Black marker
- Washable school glue
- Kid-friendly scissors
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Prepare the background. Lay your purple construction paper flat on the table. This serves as the sturdy base for your art project.
- Attach the face. Apply a generous circle of glue to the center of the purple paper. Press a single brown coffee filter flat into the glue and smooth it out.
- Cut out the features. Grab your brown paper and cut out two half-circles to use as the bear’s ears. Next, cut out one medium-sized oval to serve as the bear’s muzzle.
- Add the ears. Apply a small dab of glue to the bottom edge of the two half-circle ears. Tuck them slightly behind the top left and top right edges of the coffee filter, pressing down to secure them.
- Draw the smile. Use your black marker to draw a rounded triangle nose and a friendly “W” shaped mouth on the brown oval muzzle.
- Place the muzzle. Glue the completed muzzle onto the lower center of the coffee filter face.
- Bring it to life. Finish your bear by gluing two large googly eyes directly above the muzzle. Set the paper aside so the glue can dry completely.
