Three paper plate fans, each cut in half and painted yellow, orange, and red with white polka dots like a clothespin mushroom, have clothespins attached as handles. They’re displayed on colorful, patterned paper backgrounds.

Three paper plates cut in half and painted red, yellow, and orange with white polka dots resemble mushrooms—each with a clothespin stem. Placed on patterned autumn-themed paper, this is a fun example of Fall Craft Ideas for kids.

Get ready for a simple and delightful craft that brings a little bit of woodland magic into your home or classroom. This paper plate and clothespin mushroom is perfect for little hands. It helps develop fine motor skills and provides a fun canvas for creativity. With just a few common craft supplies, you can create an entire patch of colorful fungi in no time!

Craft Supplies:

  • Small paper plates {one plate makes TWO mushrooms}
  • Wooden clothespins {one per mushroom}
  • White dot stickers (or a white paint pen/white paint)
  • Scissors

Directions:

  1. Create the Mushroom Cap: start by cutting your paper plate in half. Each half piece will make ONE mushroom.
  2. Add the Spots: Peel and stick the white dot stickers all over the colored surface to give your mushroom its classic spots. If you don’t have stickers, you can use a white paint pen or even a fingertip dipped in white paint to create the dots.
  3. Attach the Stem: Take your wooden clothespin and clip it to the center of the flat, cut edge of the paper plate. The clothespin acts as the mushroom’s stem, allowing it to stand up on its own.
  4. Display Your Creation: Your mushroom is now complete! You can stand it on a shelf, use it for imaginative play, or make a whole family of them in different sizes and colors.

Three paper plate fans, painted yellow, orange, and red with white polka dots and attached to clothespins as handles, are displayed on colorful, patterned paper backgrounds.

This craft is wonderfully adaptable and also perfect for various seasons of the year. You can experiment with different paint colors for your mushroom caps or add glitter for a touch of sparkle.

Let your child’s imagination guide the way and enjoy making this sweet and easy project together. On that note, we hope you are inspired to recreate it today! Happy crafting, my friends!
