Craft Supplies:

This craft uses simple materials that you might already have at home. Before you begin, gather the following supplies to ensure a smooth and enjoyable crafting experience.

  • Construction Paper {2 – choice of color}
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Ornament Printable – from our landing page
  • School Glue
  • Glitter Glue
  • Embellishments

Directions:

Follow these simple steps to create your own torn paper ornament. This process is very forgiving, so don’t worry about perfection. The rustic, torn edges are part of the charm!

  • Start by downloading and printing the free “I like hanging with you” ornament template, found above.
  • Help your child tear or cut their two colors of construction paper into small pieces. These pieces will become the inside of the ornament design.
  • Now for the fun part! Have your child use school glue to attach the torn paper pieces inside the bauble outline on the printable. Remember to let them know it’s all about having fun and making something unique, not about being perfect.
  • Once the ornament design is filled in, let your child add stickers and/or glitter glue. This is their chance to give their ornament some holiday flair and a personality all its own!
  • Set the finished artwork aside to dry completely before you display it or gift it to someone special.
