Popsicle Stick Baseball Craft for Kids

This summer, channel your child’s love for baseball and crafting into a fun popsicle stick project that’s easy, budget-friendly, and bursting with creativity!

Combining the thrill of America’s favorite pastime with the simplicity of a popsicle stick craft, it’s an activity that both kids and parents will enjoy. Here’s how to make your very own popsicle stick baseball craft this summer!

Craft Supplies:

Before we step into the creation process, gather the following materials. Most of these can be found at craft stores, and you likely already have some at home:

  • Jumbo Popsicle Sticks – 9 per craft
  • School Glue
  • White Craft Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Red Puffy Paint

Directions:

With these materials ready, it’s time to craft baseball magic.

  • Start by gluing your popsicle sticks together to form a fence-like structure. Lay seven sticks side by side, then position two more sticks across them in the opposite direction to create a sturdy pineapple-shaped base.
  • Set your finished shape aside and allow the glue to dry completely.
  • Once the glue is fully set, it’s time to paint.
  • Squeeze a small amount of white craft paint onto the center of your wooden shape. Use a paintbrush to evenly coat the entire surface in white.
  • Next, take red puffy paint and carefully draw two curved lines, mimicking the stitching on a baseball.
  • Let the paint dry completely before handling your artwork.
  • Once dry, proudly display your creative, baseball-inspired piece for everyone to admire!

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
