Fork Painted Gruffalo Craft Idea For Kids

The Gruffalo, with his turned-out toes, terrible tusks, and terrible claws, is a legendary creature in the literary world and an even bigger hit among the children’s storybook circuit.

Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler created a character that has not only charmed children with his whimsical and somewhat cautionary tale but also inspired many activities that bring the topsy-turvy world of the deep dark wood to life.

On that note, today we are going to share a super cute “fork painted Gruffalo” craft idea, that can be brought onto the kitchen table before or after you read the beloved book with your little one!

Craft Supplies:

  • Plastic Fork
  • Brown Craft Paint
  • Blue Cardstock Paper
  • Gold Glitter Paper
  • Scissors
  • School Glue
  • Large Wiggle Eyes {two per craft}
  • Large Pom Pom {one per craft}

You can find ALL our favorite craft supplies via our AMAZON SHOP link!

Directions:

  • First squirt some brown paint in the center of your blue cardstock paper. You don’t need a lot. Maybe the size of a quarter.
  • Now take your fork – which is your paint brush and spread the paint ALL around to make the monster’s face come to life on the paper. Add more paint if you like.
  • When done with the painting step, if desired, sprinkle some loose craft glitter on top of the wet paint for extra sparkle.
  • Next grab your gold glitter cardstock paper and the scissors.
  • Cut out two pointy horns.
  • Glue those in place on the paint covered paper.
  • Finally – the last step of this fork painted brown Gruffalo craft is to glue your googly eyes and pom pom nose in the center.
  • Set aside to let it dry completely before displaying proudly!
