When you’re too lazy to hand out candy, just leave the “Unattended Halloween Candy Bowl” in front of your house – it’s a trick and a treat!

Can you believe Halloween is only a few weeks away?

With everyone gearing up for the “spook-tacular” holiday, it’s time to start talking about candy!!!

This year will be the first year we take our Lil Man trick-or-treating and to say I’m super excited is an understatement.

He was still too young the past few years, but I think this year he will understand the concept. Plus he has the cutest pirate costume ever!

Since we will be trick-or-treating in our neighborhood this year, I wanted to leave something at our doorsteps for the other kids as well. {in a sense – paying it forward a bit} But since our Halloween candy bowl would essentially be unattended since we were going to be out, I didn’t want the first group of kids to just dump it all in their bags and just run {because we know it happens!}

After brainstorming with my husband, we came up with the idea “I got my eye on you – please only take one” so the kids coming by our door, knew the rules 😉

If you think this idea is neat and you want to do it too – well you are in luck! Today I’m sharing how I pulled it together and you can score the FREE printable I created & used in this easy DIY project below.

Just keep scrolling to see how I pulled together this awesome {and not scary} Unattended Candy Bowl Idea within minutes. All is it is a large wooden crate and a little paint. Easy peasy!

Happy crafting, my friends! Don’t forget to share pictures of your candy station from Halloween night. We want to see what you come up with so be sure to tag us on Facebook or Instagram! #gluedtomycrafts

Don’t be a party pooper – enjoy the convenience of an Unattended Halloween Candy Bowl this spooky season!

Directions:

  • First I painted my wood frame purple and added a decorative dot border around the edge.
  • While that was drying, I painted my small wood sign green and added “Happy Halloween” w/stickers on it.
  • Once those two pieces were done drying, I added my “I Got My Eye On You” printable into the frame and hot glue the small wood sign to the front of it – setting it aside for later.
  • Next was my “candy holder” which was made out of a simple wood crate. I painted it entirely black and used the white puffy paint to draw a spider web design all over it.
  • When you are ready to put your unattended candy bowl together, fill your crate FULL of your favorite candy.
  • If possible – place your crate on a chair on your front porch.
  • Then prop your wood frame on top of the crate.
  • To make sure the frame didn’t move or go anywhere, I hot glued ribbon to the back of my frame, so I could tie it to the chair.
  • Then to finish it off, I added other Halloween decorations to really pull the look together.
