SUPER EASY Color Match Game For Moms To DIY Today!

SUPER EASY Color Game For Moms To DIY Today!

Today I’m sharing another busy bag idea that is super easy to pull together in one afternoon! It’s a simple color match game that can be customized to what you have on hand.

If you have missed the other busy bag idea posts on my blog OR you have no clue what one is – basically it’s various learning games for young children that typically go in a bag for storage.

Each game has a focus on colors, numbers, fine motor skills etc. Because the games are stored in bags,  when boredom hits or your child is cranky – just pull out the contents and have them play. It’s basically the old school way to entertain, before the iphone came along. And most of the busy bag ideas I have shared on my blog are super easy and affordable. {I tell no lie!}

Here is what I used to make our “Color Match Game.” Total cost – FREE, since I had all the supplies on hand. {This is a great way to use leftover felt pieces from other projects} #gluedtomycrafts

Color Match Game Craft Supplies:

  • Various colors of felt {Now is the time to raid your stash!}
  • Scissors or craft cutting machine
  • Objects that MATCH the various colors of felt. {Pom poms, small trinkets, buttons}

{Please keep in mind that small pieces can be a choking hazard. Please choose age appropriate items, as well as supervising children during playtime}

Directions:

  • First step is the felt pieces. I decided to run my felt through my shape cutting machine to get the scallop squares. I just wanted it all to match and look “pretty.” You, however, don’t need to do this. You can always leave the felt as is, or trim it down to size with scissors. {If you don’t have felt – fabric scraps work well to!}
  • I did a total of 6 different colored squares and each square got 10 objects. {This way I could throw in another learning lesson by counting with my son} At first I had a hard time finding things that matched the colored felt, but don’t be discouraged. Raid your child’s toy chest or hit up the local Dollar Tree.
  • Once you have all the pieces you need, it’s time to play! The object of the game is to have your child put the matching colored item, inside the felt piece. Then when you are done, toss all the pieces in a plastic baggie and store away. Easy right?

Craft Activity Safety Guidelines:

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use. Following these guidelines will ensure that crafts remain fun, creative, and, most importantly, safe for everyone involved!
