Torn Paper Lion Card Craft Idea

Crafting is a wonderful way to inspire creativity in kids while also developing their motor skills. If you’re looking for a fun, engaging activity that’s easy to set up, a torn paper lion craft is perfect!

Whether you’re trying to keep the kids occupied on a rainy afternoon or adding to a themed learning activity about animals, this craft is sure to excite their imagination!

Craft Supplies:

Before your little ones can start crafting, you need to gather some essential supplies. Don’t worry; the list is short and simple!

  • Orange Construction Paper
  • Choice of Color Construction Paper
  • Cardstock Paper
  • Lion Card Printable – on our landing page
  • Crayons, Markers or Coloring Pencils
  • Craft Scissors
  • School Glue
  • Embellishments

Directions:

Now that your materials are ready, it’s time to bring your lion to life. Follow these easy steps and enjoy watching your kids’ creativity bloom.

  • Start by downloading and printing the FREE “You’re A-RAWR-ABLE” printable (linked above) onto a sheet of white cardstock.
  • Let the kids color and cut out the lion’s head shape and the accompanying text piece. At this stage, they can also add eyes to the lion for a fun, personal touch.
  • Next, help your child cut or tear orange construction paper into small pieces – these will form the lion’s mane.
  • Apply a generous layer of school glue across a fresh sheet of construction paper.
  • Have the kids press their torn paper pieces onto the glue, adding more if needed, until they create a mane shape they’re happy with.
  • Once the mane is complete, glue the lion’s head in the center of the decorated paper.
  • Finally, attach the text cutout anywhere you like to complete the design.
  • Allow the finished “torn construction paper lion” masterpiece to dry completely before displaying it proudly!
  • Be sure to also snap a photo and share it with the hashtag #GluedToMyCrafts or tag us to showcase their beautiful artwork. We’d love to see what you create!

Always Ensure Adult Supervision - Young children should be supervised at all times when engaging in craft activities. This is essential to keep them safe and ensure materials are used correctly. Use Age-Appropriate Supplies - Choose craft supplies that are suitable for your child’s age. Check labels for recommendations and avoid items with small parts or sharp edges for younger children. Modify as Needed - Feel free to adapt materials or steps to meet your child's abilities and safety needs. For example, substitute scissors with safety scissors if necessary. Keep an Eye on Allergies - Be mindful of potential allergens in craft materials like glue, paint, or certain fabrics. Opt for non-toxic and hypoallergenic options whenever possible. Organize and Secure Supplies - Keep all craft tools and materials organized. Store sharp objects, small parts, and potentially hazardous items out of reach when not in use.
